Covast Announces Availability of Map Accelerator for IBM WebSphere New product automates the migration of legacy EDI systems to the IBM WebSphere platform Bedfont, England - March 23, 2005 - Covast, a leading provider of Electronic
Data Interchange (EDI) integration solutions for collaborative business environments,
today announced the general availability of the Covast Map Accelerator for IBM
WebSphere. The Map Accelerator automates the migration of legacy EDI systems to
the IBM WebSphere platform, allowing for quick integration of EDI-based information
with other critical enterprise applications. As a result, enterprises using EDI
for business transactions are able to optimize integration benefits inherent in
the IBM WebSphere environment, such as business activity monitoring (BAM) and
business processes management (BPM).
Many enterprises have found it difficult to consolidate all existing internal
(application-to-application) and external (business-to-business) integration
solutions onto a single platform. This is mainly due to the high cost and complexity
of migrating EDI document definitions and maps. Without resolving this issue
of consolidation, enterprises cannot fully benefit from the business activity
monitoring capabilities and business process management of IBM WebSphere.
To drastically reduce the cost and risk of migration, Covast has developed
the Map Accelerator for IBM WebSphere. The Map Accelerator software overcomes
EDI integration challenges by automatically migrating existing maps and document
definitions to the IBM WebSphere platform. Based on Covast's customer experiences,
migration costs are typically reduced by 85% or more.
"Companies are turning to IBM WebSphere to integrate, manage and monitor
all facets of their operations. With Covast's Map Accelerator, EDI is no longer
a hurdle to achieving this goal. It enables companies to finally integrate critical
EDI applications at a fraction of the time and cost, while more fully realizing
the benefits that a single platform environment provides," said Daan Scheer,
CEO, Covast.
Based on current customer deployments of the Map Accelerator for IBM WebSphere,
a 100% migration success for the source and target EDI document definitions,
and an average automatic conversion rate of 70-100% of the maps, is typically
achieved. Any remaining portion of the map that cannot be converted automatically
is moved to the WebSphere Data Interchange Mapper for manual migration.
The new Covast Map Accelerator for IBM WebSphere is available today. For a
