Unilin Flooring Reduces B2B Workflow Development Time by 60 Percent Using Covast EDI Accelerator Covast drastically improves supply chain flexibility, customer responsiveness through EDI integration ATLANTA – November 15, 2005 – Covast, a leading provider of Electronic
Data Interchange (EDI) integration solutions for collaborative business environments,
today announced that Unilin Flooring has selected the Covast EDI Accelerator for
Microsoft BizTalk Server. Unilin Flooring, a division of Mohawk Industries Group,
is a global provider of Quick-Step laminate flooring to more than 100 countries
throughout the world. Since initial implementation in 2004, Unilin Flooring has
reduced the amount of time programmers spend adding B2B workflows by 60 percent.
Unilin Flooring has implemented the Covast EDI Accelerator to expedite the
development of EDI messaging and further enhance integration capabilities provided
by Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004. Prior to implementing the Covast and Microsoft
BizTalk Server solution, the company’s programmers struggled to add new
EDI messages, workflows and partners into its legacy EDI system. Unilin Flooring
needed more flexibility and faster integration capabilities to ensure that its
B2B communication processes remained efficient.
To overcome these challenges, the company turned to Microsoft BizTalk Server’s
integration and single development environment capabilities. Because it uses
the same rules and development environment as BizTalk, the Covast EDI Accelerator
was a natural fit to further improve EDI messaging and integration capabilities.
“As Unilin Flooring continues to grow, so has our need for efficiency,
process management and integration. The Covast-BizTalk solution has helped us
realize two major accomplishments – first, we have a more flexible and
responsive supply chain; second, we have drastically reduced the amount of time
and money required to do business with our customers, suppliers and partners,”
said Hans Valcke, Internet and integration project leader, Unilin Group.
In addition to realizing significant cost and time reductions, Unilin Flooring
has seen a spike in the number of customers and suppliers being added into the
system using a wider variety of EDI standards and protocols. This is crucial
to the global presence of the company. With more than 900 employees across the
world and customers in more than 100 countries, the Covast-BizTalk solution
allows the company’s developers to quickly add or edit any workflow regardless
of the native standard or protocol used by the trading partner.
“The success of today’s companies is contingent upon its ability
to be responsive and flexible to the demands of suppliers and customers. Covast’s
integration technology gives these companies the ability to monitor business
activity across the supply chain and quickly integrate changes, whether it’s
a new business process or a new customer,” said Daan Scheer, CEO, Covast.
